This training provides training in specialized assessment and treatment techniques for Dissociative Disorders and complex Post-traumatic Stress Disorder through a therapeutically meaningful interview, the SCID-D Interview (Structured Clinical Interview for Dissociative Symptoms and Disorders, American Psychiatric Association Publishing, 1994, 2023). This online course equips you with the skills to effectively assess and treat post-traumatic dissociation using the SCID-D Interview.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Identify core dissociative symptoms and features that underlie a client’s suffering from complex PTSD and dissociative disorders.
- Enhance assessment and therapeutic skills with adolescent and adult clients.
- Gain awareness of practical treatment interventions for client education, dissociative symptom reduction, and monitoring treatment progress.
- Assist clients in understanding their puzzling and often self-destructive symptomatology, and help them to develop more accurate, compassionate “life narratives” about themselves.
- Practice diagnostic and therapeutic interventions described in the SCID-D interview.
Who Should Attend?
- This training is appropriate for clinical, forensic, and research professionals, including all levels of experience, from trainees to the more seasoned mental health professional.
- This training is recommended for psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and mental health counselors working with adolescents and/or adults with histories of attachment issues, abuse, and/or trauma.
- Small group work may be used to practice interventions described in the SCID-D interview and to facilitate participants’ use in their clinical practice.
